The best thing about Fede saying that is that he decided he felt that way after his Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel script became That.

Well, Bruce did say they want one out every other year, that holds true to pattern!

If anybody understands French, here's a new interview with Sébastien discussing everything from his short films all the way up to his Evil Dead film.

According to Sam Raimi Updates they were all at Paramount Studios, and it wouldn't surprise me if they added them to the list of those involved in the Evil Dead franchise along with New Line, Universal, Sony, Starz, Warner Brothers, etc...

I don't think this meeting has anything to do with Evil Dead since we know that New Line/Warner is already signed-up for Sébastien's film. I wonder if they're shopping around Vermines for a theatrical or home video distributor (since apparently Shutter only has the streaming rights in select territories).

Didn't recall hearing about who they were working with was officially announced, but with the chaos of the last 9 months any news can slip my mind... and I guess they could try to get any previous work(s) released through Paramount leading up to the October 2025 should they stick with that date for the next Evil Dead installment.

Bruce discusses how the next two Evil Dead films will tie into the others (I think?):
Well, we're always going to make them pay some respects to the franchise. It's not even a franchise. This thing came out of really nowhere. It's been percolating for years in different directions. They just got to pay some homage. And there's always going to be a threat. So, it's not the George Lucas intricate, you know, Jabba the Hutt and Chapter 9, 10, 11, 12, told in reverse. It's not that, but there will be some of that. There has to be. Hey, we're out of the cabin. We're well out of the cabin now. We're well beyond Ash. We're two movies beyond Ash. So, the old guy, no one cares about him anymore. So, it's fine. It works good.
... I have zero idea what any of this means...

It means trying to turn it into a very long "the book and gore connects us all, this is an excuse for Sam to promote young directors he likes" kinda franchise. We'll see how the next two do.

Lucy Lawless is doing the press rounds for the documentary Never Look Away, and of course someone brought up Evil Dead. While most of this article is trash in terms of getting to a point or doing fact-checks on her character, there is one bit of note that Lucy dropped:
"So, what I can tell you is that there will be a couple more Evil Dead movies. There was a major sticking point in the legal paperwork that had to be worked through, but looks like that's ironing itself out, and I think we can expect a couple more movies in the next couple of years."
I wonder if perhaps this legal kerfuffle is what has held up any development on Vaniček and Francis Galluppi's movies, because it's been months with basically no information and Vaniček said he wanted to be filming by this time...

Of course I could be reading way too much into it, but "based on The Evil Dead by Sam Raimi" doesn't exactly inspire me with a lot of confidence that this won't be just another loose remake of the original. Here's hoping they're just paying respects and acknowledging the original creator rather than discreetly announcing they're about to redo that same basic story for the 3rd time in a row.

Does anybody want to place any bets on if we're going to get a title change between today and the release? Remember that Evil Dead Rise was called Evil Dead Now (and Evil Dead Mother).

The original changed after the premiere, and you can't rule anything out with the Evil Dead movies... but I will take names like Rise and Burn over a simplified Evil Dead 2013/2025.

It's been funny reading all these articles that have come out in the past 24 hours and seeing they have absolutely nothing else to talk about except the title. All of them have anywhere between four to six paragraphs, and they all basically cover the same thing: title, writer/director, Ghost House, 2026, and Francis Galluppi's film. Much to my surprise, I haven't seen any try to pad-out the word count by briefly elaborating on the history of the franchise before getting to the big title reveal as clickbait often does.

If anyone else feels like they’re trying a bit too hard to distance the newer films from the original tone? I get they want to evolve the franchise, but I kinda miss the chaotic campiness of the old ones.
